10 Tips for better photography

This is a post I put up on at http://artist.to/photobyashlee/ and I think its a great post for my first 'Photo Tip' post! I am hoping to get a new tip up every Monday so make sure to check back for more ideas and helpful information!!

10 Tips for Better Photography.....
1. Get down on their level-
If your taking pictures of little kids or animals don’t shoot down on them, get on your knees and take the picture at their height!!

2. Use a plain backround
Don’t distract from your main focus with a busy background

3. Use a flash ourdoors
Never turn off your flash just because your are outside, the flash will actually help your color!

4. Move in close
Don’t be afraid to get close to your subject

5. Take Vertical pictures
Its always fun to get a different angle on the same object

6. Lock the focus
Make sure your focus is locked before you take the picture, no one likes blurry pictures!

7. Move it from the middle
Put your main object to the side of the frame to add interest to your picture.

8. Know your flash’s range
Don’t put your subject so far away from your camera that you wont be able to see them at dusk or night even after your flash goes off.

9. Watch the light
Unless your taking actual night pictures don’t shoot in the dark, also try and avoid bright sun light or shadows!

10. Be a picture director
If someone looks out of place ask them to move over a little, and always check for things that look out of order, a necklace that’s slipped down, a tree branch coming out of someones head etc.

This year...

This year I am going to try and become a better blogger! I am going to actually update my blog in a timely matter and post the pictures I take instead of giving them to my clients and forgetting to blog them! So If i start to slack... just let me know its been a while since my last post and I'll wake up and post something!

Gina re-do

I know I've mentioned before how my last computer crashed and how happy I am in a weird way because of how horribly off the colors were in my edits. Well I saw one of my friends wedding pictures that I had taken and was in shock, right away I found the disk and loaded the pictures to see if they all looked like that, and... they did! I felt so bad, I let her know right away that I was going to re-edit her photos and get them to her ASAP so she could have wedding pictures that she loved and that I felt good about calling my work!! Here is an example of the before and after!

I need your input!!!

I have been wondering to myself if I should do weekly posts with photography tips and ideas. The only thing is I'm not sure if you wonderful viewers would be interested, so... Let me know if photo tips, ideas, etc. would be something you would like to see me add to my blog this year. Any input/ideas would be great!!

New Lens

This year for Christmas Ty got me a new lens and I LOVE IT! Its a Sigma 28-105mm and I think it produces great color!!

Raquel & Zack

Here are the pictures of Raquel and Zacks sealing from December, I think this was the fastest shoot I've ever done simply because it was SO cold and we were trying to finish up before everyone turned into snowmen! I hope you like them, let me know what you think!
